You are not a gym. Why book like one?
Studio platforms were built around classes, instructors and rosters, with their own payment processing and their own customer list. A recovery venue on Shopify can do without all three.
The shape of the venue
- You pay a platform fee in the hundreds a month, plus payment processing on top, for a booking model built around class rosters.
- Your customers live in two places: the booking platform and your Shopify store.
- Capacity is a number of spots in a timetabled session, so staggered arrivals and overlapping stays are awkward.
- Memberships, passes and retail are three separate checkouts.
How it is set up in Repose
In the words the app uses. Every number is an example.
Occupancy instead of spots
Repose counts people in the space minute by minute, changeover gaps included. There is no class to fill, so a start can be offered every fifteen minutes and a room is never over its limit.
One checkout, one customer list
Visits, packs, memberships and gift cards are Shopify products paid through your Shopify checkout at your Shopify rates. No second processor, no second card fee, no second customer list.
Memberships on Shopify's own subscriptions
A membership is a product with a subscription plan on it, from the free Shopify Subscriptions app or whichever one you use. Repose extends access each time a payment lands and never touches the plan.
A flat monthly plan
USD 59 or USD 249 a month, chosen and billed inside Shopify. No usage metering, no add-ons, and the first hundred customer bookings free on an open store.
What a customer does
- Books on your own storefront, in your theme, with an account they already have.
- Pays once, in the checkout they already trust, with Shop Pay if they use it.
- Sees their credits, membership standing and upcoming bookings in one block.
What this does not cover
- Instructor-led classes with rosters. If classes are most of your business, stay on a class platform.
- SMS, reminders or win-back automation. Email to customers is a booking confirmation and a cancellation notice, nothing more.
- A member app or a check-in device. Both are after v1.
- Importing your existing booking history. Open bookings and balances are set up by hand at the desk.
Questions venues ask
What happens to customers' remaining passes when we switch?
Staff give credits to a customer with a written reason from the Customers page, so a balance can be carried across and the history says why.
Do we need a Shopify plan that supports subscriptions?
Only for memberships, and any Shopify plan can install the free Shopify Subscriptions app. Visits, packs and gift cards need nothing extra.
Can we run both for a while?
Yes. Repose is an app on your store and a block on your theme; nothing stops the other platform running until you turn it off.
Venues shaped like this
- Sauna and bathhouse
Sell timed sessions, passes and memberships for a sauna or bathhouse through your Shopify store. Repose counts the people in the room, not seats in a class.
- Ice bath and contrast therapy
Book ice baths, cold plunges and contrast therapy sessions through Shopify. Repose handles a few baths with short sessions, a shared sauna, and passes that cover one or both.
- Recovery lounge in a gym
A sauna, ice bath and recovery area inside a gym, bookable by members and the public through Shopify. Repose sells entry, passes and memberships without touching the gym's own system.
Other shapes
- A shared space with a headcount limit
Sell timed entry to one shared space that fits a set number of people. Repose counts heads minute by minute, staggers starts and never oversells, inside your Shopify store.
- Private rooms by the hour
Rent private rooms by the session: float tanks, private sauna suites, treatment rooms. One booking per room, a turnaround gap between them, sold through your Shopify store.
- A shared space with bookable extras
Timed entry to a shared floor plus a reserved place in something limited, like an ice bath, a cold plunge or a compression chair. One checkout, one headcount, inside Shopify.
