How it works

One room, a headcount limit, and starts all day long

A communal sauna, a bathhouse floor, a recovery lounge. There is no class and no timetable, just a space that fits a certain number of people at once and a steady stream of them coming and going.

The shape of the venue

  • The space holds a fixed number of people. Past that it is unsafe, uncomfortable or both.
  • People stay for a set stretch, say 60 or 90 minutes, and can arrive at any start you offer.
  • Someone who walked in at 9:45 is still there at 10:15, so the 10:15 arrivals share the room with them.
  • Between visitors the space needs a few minutes of turnaround.

How it is set up in Repose

In the words the app uses. Every number is an example.

  1. One location, one limit

Set the venue limit on the location: the most people who can be in the space at once. Add your opening hours per weekday, closed dates and timezone.

  2. One resource, counting toward the limit

The location ships with a resource called Session. Give it your session length, the gap either side for turnaround, and its places. Leave it counting toward the venue limit.

  3. How often to offer a start

Choose how far apart the start times you show customers are, for example every 15 or 30 minutes. This changes what is offered, not what is counted: occupancy is still checked minute by minute.

  4. Something to sell

From New offer in Repose, or the Repose card on any Shopify product page, create a single visit, a pack of visits and a membership. Each is an ordinary Shopify product paid through your own checkout.

What a customer does

  • Picks a day on the Session booking block on your store and sees only the start times that still fit, split into morning and afternoon.
  • Ticks your waiver once, the first time, if you require one.
  • Takes a time with one credit, or under a membership, and sees the booking confirmed on screen.
  • Can cancel from the same block and get the credit back if it is before your cancellation notice.

What this does not cover

  • Instructor-led classes with a roster. There is no class in Repose, only the space.
  • Reminders before a session. Repose emails a booking confirmation and a cancellation notice, and nothing else.
  • A front-desk check-in device or a member app. Both are after v1.

Questions venues ask

Can two people who booked different start times be in the room at once?

Yes, and that is the point. Repose counts the people in the space at every minute of every booking's footprint, changeover gaps included. A start is offered only if adding one more person would not push the room past its limit at any of those minutes.

What if staff take a walk-in group?

A staff booking under a typed name takes up the space like any other booking, for however many people and however long, so what the booking block offers stays honest. It is free on every plan.

Can I close the space for a private hire?

A staff booking for the full headcount blocks the room for that stretch. Repeat it weekly for a term if you need to, and the app shows which dates will and will not take it before anything is written.
