Getting started
From install to the first customer booking, including the two steps that happen outside the app.
Before you start
You need a Shopify store you can install apps on, and a rough idea of how your venue runs: opening hours, how many people fit in the space at once, how long a session is, and what you want to sell.
1. Install Repose
Until Repose is listed on the Shopify App Store we install it with you. Ask for early access and we send an install link for your store. Approve the permissions it asks for; each one is there for a reason the privacy policy explains.
2. Set up your location
Repose creates one location for you, called Main, with neutral defaults: Monday to Friday, 9 to 5, ten people. Open Locations and make it yours:
- Timezone. Every time the app shows is in the location’s timezone.
- Opening hours for each weekday, and any closed dates.
- Venue ceiling. The most people who can be in the space at once, across everything that shares it.
- Start times. How far apart the start times you offer customers are, for example every 15 minutes.
Add more locations if you have more sites. Each has its own timezone, hours, ceiling and resources. See Locations and resources.
3. Set up what can be booked
Each location comes with one resource, called Session: 60 minutes long, with a 15-minute buffer either side. Change it to match your space, and add others if you have several bookable things, such as a sauna and an ice bath with different lengths.
For each resource you set the session length, the buffer between users, how many places it has, and whether it counts against the venue ceiling.
4. Decide the shop-wide rules
On Settings:
- Cancellation notice. How long before a start time a customer can cancel and get their credit back.
- Credit expiry. How long a bought credit lasts. Free passes have their own, shorter, life.
- Booking horizon. How far ahead customers can book, and the separate, longer horizon your staff can book to.
- Waiver. The wording customers agree to before their first booking, and whether a change to it makes everyone agree again.
5. Create something to sell
This step happens in Shopify, not in the app. Customers book with credits or under a membership, and both come from products.
- In Shopify, create a product as you normally would: a single visit, a ten-pack, a monthly membership.
- Open Offers in Repose. It lists the fields it reads on a product, in plain English, and links to where to set each one in Shopify. The first time, press the button that creates the fields on your store.
- On the product in Shopify, fill in the fields that apply: how many credits it grants, or which membership type it is and how many days one payment buys.
The Offers page then shows the product, what it grants, and any warning. See Offers and Memberships.
6. Add the booking block to your theme
The second step outside the app. Customers book through a block that lives on your storefront.
- In Shopify, go to Online Store → Themes → Customize.
- Open the page where you want booking to happen, for example a “Book” page.
- Add block and choose Session booking from the Repose app.
- Save.
Until this is done, nothing on your store is bookable, however complete the app looks. The app’s own setup checklist reminds you.
7. Make a test booking
Place a test order for a product that grants credits, using a customer account you control. Open the booking block on your store, sign in as that customer, tick the waiver, pick a day and take a time. Then open Today in the app and find it.
If the booking does not appear, the order is the first place to look: does it contain a product the Offers page recognises, and did it reach paid?
What happens next
Bookings from customers count toward your plan. The first 100 in every 30-day cycle are free, so testing costs nothing.
