Offers

Products that grant credits or a membership, limited-run offers, and what the Offers page tells you.

An offer is an ordinary Shopify product with a few extra fields on it. Repose adds the fields to your store, reads them when an order is paid, and lists everything it can see on the Offers page. You never edit an offer in the app; you edit the product in Shopify, and the Offers page links you there.

The fields

The Offers page names each field in plain English and says where to find it in Shopify. On the product they appear as a group of fields called Repose. In summary:

Field What it does
Credits How many bookings this product grants. A single visit is 1, a ten-pack is 10.
Credit kind Which resources these credits pay for. Leave blank for a venue with one kind.
Credit expiry (months) How long these credits last, if different from the shop-wide setting.
Membership type Any name makes this product a membership. See Memberships.
Membership length (days) How many days one payment of a membership buys.
Sessions per week For a membership, how many bookings it covers Monday to Sunday. Blank means unlimited.
Once per customer Only one purchase of this product per customer, ever. Checkout refuses a second.
Cap Close the offer after this many distinct customers have bought it.
Phase and phase trigger Which phase the offer belongs to, and which offer’s sell-out switches the phase. See below.
Location Restrict the credits to one location.

Some fields are written by the app rather than you, such as the number of places an offer has left. The Offers page shows them.

Credits

A paid order for a product with credits puts that many credits on the customer’s account, with an expiry. A booking spends one. A timely cancellation returns it. A refund takes back only what the customer still holds, never below zero.

Credits are drawn oldest first, and free passes your staff give out are spent before bought credits, so a gift does not sit unused while a paid credit lapses.

The booking block shows a customer their balance, marks credits that are gifts with a short life, hides expired credits, and warns them before the rest lapse.

Gift cards

A Shopify gift card is just money. The recipient buys an offer with it in the normal checkout, and the order grants what the offer grants. Nothing to set up in Repose.

Once per customer

An intro offer, for example a first visit at a low price, is usually one per person. Tick Once per customer and the checkout refuses a second purchase before the customer pays, with a message saying why. The app keeps a record on the customer so the rule holds even if they buy from a different device.

Caps: a limited number of places

Set Cap to a number and the offer closes after that many distinct customers have bought it. Places never reopen, even if someone is refunded, so “the first fifty” means exactly that.

The Offers page shows how many places each capped offer has left, and the Today page carries the same line so staff see it without opening Shopify. When the last place goes, the app hides the product from your storefront and records it as sold out, and the checkout refuses any cart that still holds it.

Phases: one offer, then another

Some venues open with an intro offer and switch to a standard one when it sells out. Repose calls the two stages phases.

  1. Give the intro product a phase, for example intro, and the standard product another, for example standard.
  2. On the standard product, name the intro product as the phase trigger.
  3. On Settings, turn phases on by choosing the current phase.

While the intro phase is running, the standard product is unpublished. The moment the intro offer sells its last capped place, the app switches the shop to the standard phase, publishes the standard product and hides the intro one. The switch is one way and automatic, and you can override it on Settings at any time.

Phases are off unless you turn them on. A shop with no phase set sells everything it has published, as Shopify normally would.

Checkout checks

Once per customer, sold-out offers and offers outside the current phase are all enforced at checkout by a check the app installs, reading the same fields the app writes. It means a stale cart cannot buy something that has gone. The Offers page shows whether the check is on.

What the Offers page is for

Every product Repose can see, what it grants, what it costs, its limit and places, its phase, and a link to edit it in Shopify. Warnings when something is inconsistent, such as a membership whose billing interval does not match its length. A Check again button that rescans your catalogue. And the one button that creates any missing field on your store.

If a product is not listed, it has none of the fields set, or the catalogue has not been rescanned since you set them.
